Kinklab’s vampire gloves are made of a soft garment leather, and from the top look like a normal pair of gloves. The bottom of the fingers, however, are covered in rows of tiny little spikes. The spikes are metal (I would assume steel), and stick out about 1/8th of an inch past the leather. The ends to the spikes are pointy, and while not as sharp as a needle, will break skin so handle with care when removing them from the box!

The gloves come in four sizes (XS, S, M, L) and as the site doesn’t have a sizing guide, I just went with the size of glove I normally wear on the ambulance. Medium gloves normally fit me well, and these were a good fit for me, except for around the wrists. The wrists of the gloves do close with a snap, but the sizing was off enough that I found closing the snap didn’t make me feel like the gloves would stay on if they hadn’t fit my hands so well. Master, who wears either a (larger) medium or large sized gloves found these fit his hands perfectly, but also found the wrists to be loose. Because of the extra bulk in the fabric of fingers from the spikes, the fingers are slightly tighter than normal, and also have less flexibility.

With my pair, not all of the spikes were perfectly straight upon arrival, but I was able to bend them back into line with a pair of pliers. A few of the points were also trapped between the actual leather of the glove, and the light padding that protects your fingertips from the metal, which bothered my OCD, but also spoiled the aesthetics of the gloves slightly.

I’d recommend storing the gloves in a box of some sort, rather than just tossing them into your toy box or play bag. The spikes could damage some of your other toys, or even poke through themselves. I’ve also noticed that there are some small scratches in the leather of my gloves, presumably from me accidentally rubbing the spikes against it.

These are delightfully wicked tools to have in your Bag of Evil. You can use the back of the gloves as sensation play, running the soft leather over your partner’s skin, or turn you hands over use the the spikes over them instead. I especially love having the spikes dragged over my back, ass and inner thighs. Another fun type of sensation is to grab your partner (arms work well, as do legs or inner thighs) and slowly increase the pressure of your fingers. It doesn’t take very much pressure to break skin, so be careful how tightly you grab someone! Unless, of course, blood play is your intent. Spanking someone with these will definitely break skin, and leave behind tiny little spots of blood, as well as some interesting bruises. I also really enjoyed Master grabbing my hips from behind during sex while he was wearing these, and still have some scratches from it.

Because these gloves are made of leather, and leather is a porous material, it’s impossible to completely sterilize them. If you plan on breaking skin with these, it may be a good idea to have a pair dedicated for the person you do bloodplay with, and another pair to use on others. Yup, being a responsible kinkster does get expensive sometimes! If you wanted, you could always try using rubbing alcohol on the spikes before use to try to make sure they were clean, but a) that’s a gigantic pain in the arse, given that there’s 80+ spikes each gloves and b) rubbing alcohol just moves the germs around, rather than killing them. I’d recommend wiping the glove off with a damp cloth after play, and taking care to dry the metal spikes off so they don’t rust. The leather itself could probably be cleaned with Saddle Soap (I wish I got a commission for every time I pimped this stuff out!), but I’d just recommend using Neatsfoot oil to condition it every few months.

I absolutely love my pair of vampire gloves, and want to have another pair for myself to use on others, as I’ve already bled on my current pair so they’re reserved for just myself, as well as another pair for Master to keep in his Bag of Destruction. They’re a bit of an investment, but well worth it in my opinion.

I give these gloves 4 spikey paws up out of 5!
