Oh gods. Where to start on this review?

Leatherbeaten is a Canadian company, located in Peterborough, Ontario. (Hey, I’m a Canuck too, and enjoy pimping out my fellow Canadians whenever possible!) They’re a small company that makes unique kinky leather goods. I own the Imp and Spanker paddles, and am steadily expanding my collection.

Leatherbeaten has managed to pack so much evil into such a small amount of surface area with their Delrin cane that I am concerned that they may have made a deal with the devil to do so. Delrin is a high tensile strength polymer, which makes this cane whippy, evil, and just about unbreakable.

The cane length is shorter than the average cane, coming in at only 19.5 inches. Of that, the useable length is of the cane is 14 inches, with the rest being the handle and a short loop on the end. The diameter is 3/16 of an inch, which is roughly the size of a pencil. The loop is too short to loop over your wrist as you play, but you don’t really need the extra security that would bring, as the rubber grip stays in your hand nicely, even if your palms get a bit slick. I love that this is a shorter length, as it is convenient to pack into a toy bag for a play party, or to store.

The Delrin cane is easy to clean, as the hard plastic is non porous. I wipe it down with a medical grade cleaning wipe after play and will use bleach to completely sterilize it between partners. You could probably even run this through the dishwasher on the top shelf, but I am a bit skittish about the heat. While Delrin’s melting point isn’t until 347 degrees Fahrenheit (impressive, no?), I am worried the rubber may crack or warp, as the lowest melting point of rubber is around 200 degrees F and some dishwashers do reach them temperature. Because this toy stands up so well to heat, my girlfriend suggested that it would work very well if it was incorporated into a scene with fire-play. Possibly by the time it comes to do a follow-up review, I will have been able to test this out.

In use…this toy sucks. There’s no other way to describe it. Stingy, *deep* pain, that is definitely not for beginners. The first time my Owner hit my with this, my response (apart from levitating off the bed I had been bent over) was not terribly sweet or submissive. I also learned that day that ‘Damnit! Motherfucker! I hate you!’ is not only not my safeword, but will result in me getting smacked again. The initial strike with the cane is really sharp and has a wicked bite to it. The sting fades after a few seconds that feel like an eternity, and goes down to a dull, deep throbbing that is a lot more bearable in comparison but still hurts like a bitch. On my pale Irish skin, the marks it left were dead white lines that were the width of cane itself, surrounded by red marks that eventually turned into purple bruising.

While I hate having this toy used on me as a bottom, using it as a top rocks. I love this cane because of the length. It’s perfect for getting up close and personal with your vict…erm, your play partner. It’s light, doesn’t require a ridiculous wind up to inflict serious owch, and I found that it only took a short while for me to figure how to use this material to it’s best advantage. Light taps, which seem like you are being nice at first, when done repeatedly over the same area, burn. Harder strikes leave white raised welts, that will last days, and can leave bruises.

I also love this cane because of the length. It’s perfect for getting up close and personal with your vict…erm, your play partner. You can stand or kneel in between their spread legs and use it on their inner thighs or, if you’re really being mean, genitalia. Of course, you can always be traditional and use it on butt, back, thighs or feet.

I give this toy 5 sore and stripey paws up out of five!
