Nipple clamps seem to be a staple in most kinky toy bags, from the terrifyingly evil and intense clover clamps to cute ‘beginner’ tweezer clamps. The Bound to Please Nipple Clamps, provided to me by Good Vibrations, though, seem to be a happy (well, maybe happy isn’t right word) medium between the two extremes.
The Bound to Please nipple clamps are a pair of mandible brass nipple clamps, that come in two finishes-chrome plated or powder coat in black. They are rather intimidating looking, as they have been styled after Victorian surgical clamps, and would fit in nicely in any mad scientist’s bag. While I own the black pair, I included a picture of the chrome plated clamps, so the detail was easier to make out.
The clamps themselves measure 2 inches long, and are 1 inch wide when the ‘pinchers’ are fully closed. The chain connecting them is 18 inches long. The tips of the pinchers are coated in PVC, and I find that they grip well, even when not fully closed. This is a good thing, as there’s few things more owchy than a nipple clamp slowly and agonizingly working itself free on its own! These adjust to give sensations from barely pinching to ‘Ow. Ow. OMG, what are you trying to do, make them meet in the middle? My nipple is in the way, damnit!’. So, I would say they are good for everyone from a complete newbie to an experienced kinkster.
The packaging was something that really impressed me. I’m used to anything sex toy related coming in ridiculously oversized packaging with tons of raunchy packaging that takes forever to open. These clamps…didn’t. The small plastic box they came in was about 3 inches square, just the perfect size to hold them. It wasn’t terribly sturdy, so wouldn’t hold up to long term storage, but worked well until I could find a better alternative. It wasn’t discrete, as you could see the clamps through the plastic, and the box had an insert with a shirtless man in it, but it’s not like you’re leaving your box O’ nipple clamps just lying around anyway, right?
Now comes the info I’m sure you’re all waiting for…how evil are these, especially when compared to a pair of clover clamps? Well, it depends on who is putting them on. If I’m on my own and just messing around with the clamps and not really in the mood for actual pain, these work perfectly! I can adjust them so they’re loose enough that I’m not distracted by the pain, then do whatever, from wandering around with them under my bra or masturbating. When not closed tightly, these feel like a light pinch on my nipples. Slightly painful, yes, but not in a bad way. More distracting than anything else. However, when the clamps are tightened…damn.
The very tips are small, which means there is less surface area for the clamps to grip. Which means more owch per square inch, or OPSI for short. I found them to be just as painful as clover clamps, but in a different way. With clover clamps, for me, the worst moment is when they are pulled off, and the rush of blood back into the area that had been pinched. With these, there is still that rush, but I find that the wait leading up to removal to be harder to bear.
My favourite way to use these in a only-sorta-painful way has been wearing them during normal sex. No other kinky accessories, just nipple clamps for me and my partner to play with. I’ve found that these are great for making doggy style sex more interesting! The weight of the chain pulls on them, and the movement from being fucked adds to the tugging on the clamps. If you’re feeling even more adventurous, you could hang weights off the clamps or even the chain to make the sensations more intense. They are also perfect for medical play, because of the unique shape.
Because the Bound to Please nipple clamps are made of metal, the care and feeding of them is fairly simple. You can wipe them down with a cleaner between partners if you are worried about any potential fluid exchange. I use an alcohol based antibacterial gel, as I am worried that water may cause the clamps to rust, and there’s been no issues with it. I keep my clamps stored in a cloth bag (one that used to hold jewellery, and they fit perfectly) in my larger toy box, and they have no problems with things like picking up lint, but will occasionally snag on a stray thread if I am not careful. I’m not sure how difficult it would be to remove lube, blood, or come from them, though, as there are plenty of grooves and cracks, so these would probably not do well for messy/intense play.
I give these 5 pinchy paws up out of 5!
Thanks, Good Vibrations, for sending these awesome clamps my way!
