I’m a hedonist at heart. I am also a geek. I love sensation and sensuality, numbers (prime numbers, and ones in the Fibonacci sequence make me happy!) and science, so when MyPleasure offered me a chance to review the Chemistry Bubble Bath Set, I pounced on it. Geeky and cute bath products? Sign me up, please.
The packaging for this set is fairly simple. The Chemistry Bubble Bath Set comes with four test tubes, each full of different types of bubbles, and a clear plastic stand to hold them all in. The stand is very sturdy, and has survived being knocked off the bathroom counter by my cat. Well, ok, I was the one who knocked it off, but we are going to blame the cat anyway. The test tubes close with silver lids, and are definitely leak proof! I have left one of mine upside down on the counter overnight with no issues. They also hold up to abuse well! I have kept mine and have been refilling mine with bath salts and other bubble baths. I love how cute they are, and the set looks adorable on my bathroom counter or on the side of the tub.
Each tube has a small white label on the front, and a picture representing the scent, as well as a description of what mood the scent should evoke. The labels read:
Rose will refresh your skin and leave you with that much-coveted seductive glow.
Lavender captivates while it simultaneously relaxes.
Lemon/Mint is invigorating and perfect for boosting energy levels so that you’re ready for that all-night tryst.
Pomegranate is light and sweet to carry you into the realm of sensual delights.
The Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocomide DEA, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium, Chloride, Citric Acid, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Parfums (peppermint, lavender, lemon, rose and pomegranate)
Pomegranate was the first vial of bubble bath that I tried, and I have to say that the scent was disappointing. It smelled nothing like the fruit, and was instead a light pink floral-y scent. I do wish that it had been accurate, as pomegranate is currently my favourite scent obsession. However, rose was spot on, and the other two scents were really close to what they were supposed to be. While lavender isn’t my favourite scent, (it reminds me of my great grandmother, and not really in a good way.) but I found it to be the most accurate and strongest overall. The scent of the bubbles didn’t linger on my skin, which was a bonus to me, as I have a signature scent, and prefer for my bath products to not compete with it.
I don’t know if the aromatherapy actually worked, as my bath with the pomegranate bubbles was spent going “Awww. I really wish that this smelled like it was supposed to.” and the lavender was “Huh. Now I smell a bit like Herbes de Provence. And my Grandma. Oh my gods. I smell like my Grandma is being seasoned by a Frenchman!”. I think you will agree, neither of those are particularly relaxing. However, the rose did smell yummy, and was the perfect way to relax after a long and stressful day. Glowing skin? None too sure about that, but I was rather on the pink side after soaking in a scaldingly hot tub for an hour or so.
The amount of bubbles that are produced by the test tubes are (what I consider) a medium amount. I have an average size bathtub, and to get drifts of bubbles that completely covered all the water, I had to use the entire vial. While I have definitely used more bubble-y bubble bath, this is still a fairly decent amount of bubbles, and not what I would consider bad at all. I didn’t find them to be overly long lasting. My bubbles lasted around 10-15 minutes each bath, and that was with me needing to ‘reactivate’ them by either running the faucet or swishing my hands around under the water to agitate it.
While I absolutely adore the packaging for this package of bubble bath, I’m not overly enamored with the product itself. I give it 3 sudsy paws up out of 5! Thanks, MyPleasure for letting me review this bath product in exchange for a fair and honest review!
